The arch as a structural element fits naturally into the context of other Prague bridges and the landscape of the Vltava River valley. The three arch-supported spans define a favourable arch rise and bridge segmentation, which both relates to the scale of existing bridges and avoids unnecessary obstructions to the river flow. The six-span bridge over the Vltava River is designed to connect the Zlíchov and Podolí embankments at the selected location. It accommodates tram and bus public transport, the integrated emergency services, as well as pedestrian and cyclist movement across the river and along the embankments. The bridge structure is designed as a steel composite deck with a concrete slab, reinforced by steel arches in the three main spans. These arches define the central transport corridor for the tram line with the catenary poles.
