Footbridge across the Lubina River

Příbor, Czech Republic
Competition design 2016, Third place
We are co-authors of the design for a footbridge over the Lubina River in Příbor, which was awarded third place in a public architectural and structural competition.

The footbridge is situated on the site of the original steel bridge and respects the requirement to span the level of a 100-year flood. In plan, the bridge axis follows a curve with a rise in the direction of the Lubina River flow. The curve of the bridge aligns with the pedestrian routes in the area. At the top of the curve, a panoramic view of Příbor opens up, with the church as a dominant landmark. The bridge approaches are gently curved to enhance the smoothness of pedestrian movement. The transverse inclination of the parapet beam visually expands the width of the bridge deck.
