Footbridge across the Opava River

Opava, Czech Republic
Implementation 2023
We are the authors of the concept for the footbridge and all subsequent stages of the project documentation for the construction permit (DÚR, DSP) and the tender documentation. We also prepared the implementation documentation for the contractor.

The footbridge for pedestrians and cyclists connects the Silver Lake recreational area with the park on the other bank of the Opava River. The structure of the footbridge consists of a thin bridge deck made of prestressed in-situ concrete stiffened by longitudinal ribs. The deck is suspended from the main Radaelli system suspension cables by means of tie rods. The cables are anchored to steel pylons with slender steel backstays. The structure is fully integrated with the end abutments, which are founded on a combination of drilled piles and ground anchors. The bridge deck lighting is located in the lower handrail and is supplemented by illumination of both pylons.
