Footbridge across the Radbuza River

Plzeň, Czech Republic
Implementation 2012
We are the authors of the concept for the footbridge, the documentation for the construction permit (DSP) and the tender documentation. We also prepared the implementation documentation for the contractor.

The pedestrian bridge over the Radbuza River was built as a public access from Štruncovy Sady to the premises of the Pilsen Prazdroj brewery. The bridge spans the river with a single simple span with an overhanging end without supports in the riverbed. The H-shaped cross-section of the deck with variable height (1.70 - 2.70 m) is made of prestressed and cast-in-situ concrete, prestressed by a combination of internal and external tendons. The cantilevered end on the right bank consists of a steel truss structure. This end of the footbridge can be lifted and folded by crane to allow the passage of a low-loader with a brewing tank along the service road parallel to the river.
