integrated continuous slab
The footbridge is located in the wider centre of the historic city of Olomouc. It connects the city centre to the newly built Šantovka Shopping Gallery. It spans a city street with tram tracks, adjacent pavement areas, and the riverbed of Mlýnský potok. The load-bearing slab structure made of prestressed concrete is monolithically connected to steel piers. Each pier is shaped like a branched system of steel pipes with four branches. The branching of the piers was cast using moulds fabricated based on computer 3D model. The bridge is equipped with embedded cables for heating during the winter months. The railing features horizontal infill and a handrail clad in teak. Lighting on the bridge is embedded in the handrails and the soffit of the load-bearing structure.
